Kent Computing Society (CompSoc)

Infomation For Students

We run multiple events throughout the year, including several coding challenges and an annual hackathon. We invite notable tech speakers, connect our members with different opportunities and run a number of social events to bring together the community of students who are interested in Computing.

As the social bit of the Department of Computing, CompSoc make it our mission to prove that all those long hours spent in labs are worth it after all! Honest!

To keep you on your toes, we run tech talks and visits to industry. There's also, of course, our yearly hackathon, HackKent, where the best developers from Medway Campus and beyond gather to build some really, really cool tech, all in 24 hours.

It's not all about ones and zeroes, though! This year we are also running a cinema night (Hackers, obviously) and, of course, our Socials at the bar. KCS is run by CS students, for CS students (and for anyone interested in computing!), all to make your time at Kent as enjoyable and rewarding as we can.

Get involved! We're all here for your benefit so come and talk to your reps and the KCS committee and let us know what we can do for you!
